Day Trip 4! We left the Centre early this morning and drove to Runnymede. We only visited Runnymede to appease Brother Cooper, because it is the location that the Magna Carta was most likely signed by King John in 1215. Otherwise it was a fairly unremarkable piece of land.

After Runnymede we went to Windsor Castle and toured the property. Windsor was beautiful, but the Queen wasn’t home. My favorite part was standing on the heating vents in St. George’s Chapel. It was so cold (inside and outside). When we were walking through St. George’s Chapel I walked across these grates, thinking nothing of them, and then melted with happiness. Hot air was blowing through them. Allyson and I then spent the next 15 minutes standing on them. It was fantastic! The chapel was lovely too…

We then went to Stoke Poges. I had never heard of Stoke Poges before, and never would have thought to ever visit it. Still don’t know why we visited… but we did probably to appease Sister Howe, because it is the location that Thomas Gray wrote “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard”. Thrilling I know. It was a very beautiful piece of countryside and had some beautiful fountains in the gardens.

Allyson and I were worried about getting back to the Centre on time because we had tickets to see Phantom of the Opera later in the evening. Luckily some of the professors’ daughters had New Beginnings, so there was incentive to get back home on time. We got home with plenty of time to spare. When we were entering Her Majesty’s Theatre, the usher who checked our tickets informed us that we could possibly upgrade our tickets. I went to the Box Office and the lady upgraded our seats from 3rd Balcony to 10th row in the Stalls for free! It was amazing! Our seats were so good! Allyson and I were so lucky. The show was really good. I had never seen the musical or the movie before, so I didn’t really know the plot, but I liked it a lot. They had such amazing voices. I loved the costumes. It was really good… but I still like Les Miserables the best!!
